New Delhi: The Delhi University student, Gurmeher Kaur, daughter of Kargil martyr 'Captain Mandeep Singh', has alleged to have received ‘rape threats’.

She had started a social media campaign against ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad), which went viral and now she claims to have received threats regarding it.

Gurmeher Kaur, a student at Lady Sri Ram College for Women says that she has attracted a lot of hate messages over her stand on the issue.

Recently she told NDTV about this matter saying “I have been getting a lot of threats on social media. I think it is very scary when people threaten you with violence or with rape”. She also added saying that giving rape threats in name of ‘nationalism’ is not right.

She received lot of support including from the Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejrival who retweeted sharing her statement saying “Just listen to this. This is BJP. They will destroy our country. Everyone must rise against their goondaism”.

Kaur had changed her Facebook profile picture after the North Campus clash, holding a placard which read ‘I am a student from Delhi Universtity. I am not afraid of ABVP. I am not alone. Every student of India is with me. #StudentsAgainstABVP’.

A lot of clashes have been going on lately between members of AISA and ABVP. Recently Delhi University’s Ramjas College had witnessed large-scale violence between members of AISA (All India Students Association) and ABVP workers on 22nd Feb Wednesday.

Gurmeher Kaur continues her work on campaign against ABVP regardless of the fragile attempts
against her to make her stop.
