Karwar: Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will be in Uttara Kannada district on April 15 to campaign in favour of BJP candidate from Uttara Kannada constituency Ananthkumar Hegde.

Pramod Sawant and Ananthkumar Hegde will take part in a joint rally from Mitra Samaj to Maladevi Ground in Karwar at 11:00 am. A helipad has been set up at Bandishitta where MLA Roopali Naik will welcome Nirmala Sitharaman at 12:30 noon. “A number of party workers from across the district will be in Karwar to attend the public programme. Around 5,000 party workers are expected to take part in the programme which will be held for around one hour. Presently, seating arrangement has been made for 3,500 people and a pandal has been erected to protect people from the sun,” said a BJP leader.

The BJP leader also informed that BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa will address a party workers’ meeting in Kittur in Belagavi district but coming under Uttara Kannada constituency, on April 15. So, people from that region will not be able to attend the meeting at Karwar.
