Udupi: MLA K Raghupathi Bhat said that Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai has directed to hand over the case of the suspicious death of Raksha, wife of BJP leader Shivaprasad, to the CID.

Bhat told reporters at the BJP office on Monday, that due to the negligence of doctors in a private hospital, Raksha had died. There were mistakes in the Covid-19 test reports as well.

"I have already discussed the issue with the home minister during a video conference at the office of Superintendent of Police (SP). He has promised a CID inquiry into the death," the MLA added.

The MLA said that a seven-member team of doctors was set up to probe into the alleged negligence resulting in the death of the woman. The expert team will submit a report within five days.

Raksha, who was undergoing treatment at a private hospital, died immediately after returning home on August 21.

There was a change in the date in the Covid-19 test report, which forced family members to suspect foul play by doctors.

The family members had even staged a protest in front of the district hospital in Udupi, accusing the doctors of negligence.
