Bhatkal: A cyclist was crushed to death near PLD Bank in Bhatkal on Wednesday morning when he was crossing the highway.

The incident took place around 11 am when the crane hit the cyclist resulting in his head injury. He was immediately rushed to the Govt hospital, but he was declared dead.

The deceased has been identified as 71-year-old Ramesh Waman Prabhu, hailed from Muttali village in Bhatkal taluk.

Bhatkal police rushed to the spot and driver of the crane was booked under section of the Indian Penal Code for causing death due to negligence.
