Bhatkal: The COVID recovery rates in Uttara Kannada district have surpassed active cases, and people who find symptoms should get tested immediately without any fear, stated Deputy Commisoner Dr Harish Kumar.

He was addressing press conference here in Bhatkal on Monday. Speaking further, he said, people shouldn't fear if tested positive. Those testing positive without symptoms need not worry, as they will be home isolated.

When asked about death rates in the district due to COVID, he said, it's 1% since the COVID has begun. He said, in the initial stages, there were many problems in cremating the dead bodies. Now the fear among people has reduced, where no one questions on cremation of dead bodies.

Replying to a question seeking statement on political leaders, he said, I would have to resign first and join any political party before giving any statement.

Regarding the non-commencement of the newly built fish market in Bhatkal, he said that a clean market has been provided for the convenience of the people. The government's intention is for the people to live in a clean environment. He said, however, soon the fish market would be converted to a high-tech fish market.

The Deputy Commissioner also responded to various questions asked on school, traffic issues, non-functioning of Municipal and Tahsildar offices, quarantine and many other issues.
