Karwar: Congress MLA D K Shivakumar visited a number of temples in Uttara Kannada district and offered pujas on Friday.

He arrived at Ankola from Hubballi in a helicopter at 9:00 am and visited the Andle Jagadeeshwari Temple in Ankola taluk. Later he went to the Mahabaleshwar Temple in Gokarna. Shivakumar said that he offered puja at Gokarna to fulfil his well-wishers' vows which they had taken while he was in trouble.

Speaking to press persons during the visit, he said: "Dissidence cannot be tolerated by any political party. Let Chief Minister Yediyurappa tour the entire State to protect his power. But the acceptance of the people is more important and their votes matter a lot."

He said that he will campaign in the constituencies going for by-polls as per the schedule fixed for him by the party. "These elections are not a matter of prestige. It is an insult to the trust of people. However, people will teach a lesson to the leaders who ditched them during floods," he added.

Yellapur constituency Congress candidate Bhimanna Naik and other Congress leaders accompanied. Surprisingly, even JD(S) leader A Ravindra Naik was seen with him.
