Bengaluru: Senior Congress leader and the former chief minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday expressed anguish on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who remained silent over extending the financial relief to the flood related victims in Karnataka.
The Congress leader in a twitter message had came down heavily against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for remaining blind after seeing the difficulty of people of the state, who were battered by the recent floods.
Taking note of the Prime minister, who had expressed concern over the Bihar floods, he said that ‘Prime Minister had failed to exhibit same concern to the plight of the people of the Karnataka so far’.
‘Since day one the Congress in Karnataka, had demanded the Union government to announce an interim relief of over Rs 5000 crore to take up immediate relief works in the flood ravaged districts, however even after 50 days the Prime Minister is remain adamant’, Mr Siddaramaiah said.
Maintaining that the people of the state had suffered an unprecedented damage to their properties including dwelling houses and farm land, Mr Siddaramaiah said that, ‘As per the state government’s estimate the total loss caused by the floods was about Rs 31500 crore’.
The Union government had ignored Karnataka, which is largely contributing for the tax collection to the Nation, he alleged.
