Karwar: A sixth standard girl student has alleged that the police had forcibly taken her to Karwar town police station from her house on a bike, when she was on her way to school on 31st July, Monday, saying that they have received a complaint against her.

She has written a complaint to the additional superintendent of police in this connection.

In her complaint she has stated, “I stepped out of my home to go to school on Monday morning. Then a police constable forcibly dragged me to his bike and took me to town police station".

A complaint was filed against the girl alleging she had damaged the bike of Iqbal, who is her neighbour. To enquire about the issue, the police took her to police station, sources said.

“My mother and grandmother came to the police station. I was there for three hours. Iqbal, Hidayat and Nazeer tried to assault me in the police station. But my mother stopped them,” she alleged. She also alleged that Iqbal, Hidayat and Nazeer who are her neighbours would harass her on her way to school and charged them with eve-teasing.

In her memorandum, she demanded police protection and stern action against the neighbours and the police personnel who took her to police station. The town police denied her allegations. The station inspector said there was a complaint against her.
