Karwar: A committee has been formed to oppose the fifth and sixth units of Kaiga Atomic Power Station.

Elected representatives of the five gram panchayats in the vicinity, including Mallapur, Kadra, Gotegali, Keravadi and Devalmakki, held a meeting at Mallapur gram panchayat office on Wednesday and passed a resolution in this regard. During the meeting, office-bearers of the committee were elected.

The committee has 12 office-bearers.

While Zilla panchayat member Shanta Bandekar is its president, Shyamnath Naik is its secretary.
