Chief Justice of India (CJI) N V Ramana on Thursday advised lawyers to wear masks in courtrooms, saying staffers and judges were contracting COVID-19 infection.
"Please wear a mask. The majority of our staff and colleagues are getting it (COVID-19). Judges are also getting it," the CJI told the lawyers at the start of court proceedings.

With over 12,800 cattle deaths due to a skin infection caused by Lumpy virus in Rajasthan, the state government has banned holding of animal fairs.
Out of the total cattle deaths reported in the state till August 10, a maximum of 2,511 deaths have been reported in Sri Ganganagar followed by 1,619 in Barmer, 1,581 in Jodhpur, 1,156 in Bikaner, 1,150 in Jalore and 1,138 in Jalore.

A cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district on Thursday washed away ten shops and three vehicles, the state disaster management department said.
No casualties have been reported in the cloudburst at Deuthi gram panchayat in Anni tehsil at around 7.30 am, the department said.
An old bus stand and panchayat building at Deuthi are also facing the risk of being washed away.

The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday directed the state government to put on hold the new ward reservation list for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (city corporation) elections till August 16.
