RJD president Lalu Prasad came out in support of BSP leader Mayawati who resigned from the Rajya Sabha, and offered to send her to the upper house from Bihar.

Acceding to newly-appointed chief coach Ravi Shastri's demand, the BCCI today appointed Bharat Arun as the Indian cricket team's bowling coach, ending days of drama surrounding the position.

Unidentified thieves broke into the house of cricketer Umesh Yadav here and decamped with Rs 45,000 in cash and two mobile phones, the police said today.
The incident took place on Monday between 7 pm to 9 pm when the Yadav family was not in the house, they said.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to two top Karnataka prison officials taking cognisance of a complaint about alleged torture and transfer of 32 convicts serving terms in the Central Prison here.

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday said that he will ensure that there is no shortage of beef in the state.
Parrikar, while addressing the state assembly, said that if there is shortage of beef in Goa, he will import beef from the neighbouring states.
"I haven't closed option of getting beef from Belgaum or some other place to ensure there is no shortage of beef," Parrikar said.
