The 'Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty’ award for journalistic services this year will be conferred to Gangadhar Hiregutti, editor of the well-known Kannada daily of Uttara Kannada district 'Karavali Munjavu'. The award will be given by Brahmavara Taluka Journalists Association. It shall be noted that the award is named after Raghuram Shetty, the late editor of ‘Mungaaru’ newspaper.

The Coastal Security Police personnel on Sunday rescued six fishermen onboard a boat named ‘Jala Sampath’ near St Mary’s Island. The fishermen were stranded on the rocks in the island due to rough weather conditions following torrential rains all around the stretch of Coastal Karnataka.
