Coalition partners expect to win minimum 18 seats in State: Basavaraj Horatti

Thu, 18 Apr 2019 11:54:07    DHNS

Karwar: MLC Basavaraj Horatti has stated that after the completion of first phase elections to be held on April 18 (Thursday), Congress and JD(S) leaders will tour the Uttara Kannada Parliamentary Constituency and take part in the election campaign.

As both Congress and JD(S) are jointly facing the elections, leaders of both parties including District In-charge Minister are in touch with each other, he added.

Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, he said that earlier, there were many misunderstandings between us. However, now, leaving behind the internal conflicts, all have come forward to work for the success of the coalition parties in the coming LS polls, he said and added that there is an expectation of winning nearly 18 to 19 seats across the State.

As per now, both Ananth Kumar Hegde of BJP and Anand Asnotikar of coalition parties are getting equal importance and publicity in the Uttara Kannada parliamentary constituency. We hope that the final results may bear fruit, he said.

There is a situation that BJP is not able to win a single seat in the old Mysuru region with the effect of JD(S) and Congress parties. Even amidst difference of opinions, the coalition partners have developed a good relation in Tumakuru. People have good opinions about coalition candidates in both Haveri and Dharwad constituencies and with the women candidates are in the electoral battle both Vijaypur and Bagalkot constituencies, there is a positive impact for the coalition parties, he opined.

'BJP's one-act play'

In the last five years of administration, the BJP-led Central government has not worked for the benefit of common people. There is a one-act play in BJP. For example, the veteran leader like Advani is being sidelined by his own party members, Horatti chided.

He said, "the works which were done so far and those have to be done in future must be the topics of publicity, but personal criticism is not a good practice. Despite misrepresentation, 85% of voters have already decided about supporting the candidates of their choice. Our job is to get the remaining 15% votes", he added.

Party leaders Prakash Naik and C R Siddarkar were present on the occasion.
