Kumta: In a recent incident that happened here at Hosa Herwatta area in Kumta, a chain snatcher had managed to snatch a 'Mangalsutra' from a woman who was en route to her duty.

According to sources, the 52-year-old woman, Tara, was out for work while a thief attacked her with a wooden stick and managed to escape after snatching a chain from her. Following the incident, police had launched an investigation by forming a team to nab the accused and were successful in arresting the thief on Saturday.

The accused is identified as Ganapati Moger, a resident of Hosa Herwatta.

A two-wheeler and a weapon used to attack the woman was recovered from the accused's possession. He was produced in the court and was sent to judicial custody.

Police personnel including CPI Parmeshwar Gunga, PSI Sampat Kumar, along with other police officers were present in the operation.
