Udupi: A ten-year-old boy walking by the agricultural fields slipped and fell into the field and was thereafter washed away by flood water at Bailakere within Malpe police station limits on Thursday, July 7.

The deceased has been identified as Pavan, son of Suresh from Bailakere in Tenkanidiyoor village. 

As per the sources, Pavan was walking by the side of the fields to reach the house of his grandmother for playing, when he slipped into the flooded field. He was washed away and found in a nearby pit. People called fire brigade and brought him out with the help of firemen but it was too late and the boy was dead by then.

A case about the incident was lodged in Malpe police station.
