Karwar: The body of a 30-year-old man was found on the railway track near Shirwad railway station in Karwar taluk on Sunday.

As per the identity card found at the site of the crime, the deceased was identified as Gajendra Hosuru of Hirekerur in Haveri district.

His body was found in a torn apart condition. Police said that Gajendra had left his house three days back telling his family that he was going to Hubballi with his friends. A railway ticket was found in his pocket and as per that, he had travelled to Karwar from Kumta on Saturday night.

He must have died after a goods train ran over him on Sunday early morning, police suspect.

Rural police have registered a case.
