Mangaluru: Mangaluru Special Police Forest Mobile Squad personnel arrested four men and seized two blackbuck pelt and a pair of horns near the KSRTC bus stand in Bejai on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off that blackbuck pelts will be sold in the city, the officials visited the bus stand. Catching sight of the officials, four men – Ravi Hanumanthappa (32) and Mallappa (32) of Datanal in Navalgund in Dharwad; Tipu Sulthan alias Munna (33) of Sevalal Nagara, Gadag; and Parashuram Lamani (32) of Sevalal Nagara – attempted to flee from the place, but were arrested.

The men were arrested under the Wildlife Conservation Act and handed over to Mangaluru range forest officials for further action.

On the direction of DCF Karikalan, Mangaluru RFO Sridhar had filed a case and was investigation into it.
