Udupi: The former BJP district president Tingalay Vikramarjuna Hegde said that the party aims at winning all the five Assembly seats in the elections scheduled in 2018.
Speaking to mediapersons, the BJP state secretary Hegde added that he had taken over as the president about three years ago, when the BJP had lost its roots in the district. Later, with the help of party members, he had ensured that the party would get a new lease of life.
"The result was miraculous as the party attested its victory in all the elections that were held after that," he added.
Hegde added that the party won the Parliamentary elections with nearly 1,87,000-vote margin. "Besides, the BJP has won in 102 gram panchayats out of the 152 in the district. BJP had a smooth sail in the MLC elections that was held. In the taluk panchayat and zilla panchayat elections, the BJP had an upper hand. The leaders in the BJP have involved themselves is organising the party at lower cadre," he insisted.
The new state president, B S Yeddyurappa, has also brought in innovative ideas into the party and the party aims at grabbing at least 150 seats in the next Assembly elections, said Hegde. "The next government in the state will be of BJP. All the confusions that prevailed within the party have been sort out," he assured.
The newly elected BJP district president Mattar Ratnakar Hegde also said that he aims at winning all the five Assembly constituencies in the district for BJP. He said he has greater responsibilities ahead.
