Mangaluru: BJP is using the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the I-T and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to mainly target Congress leaders across the country, Opposition leaders in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah charged on Wednesday.

“BJP is under an illusion that by such witch-hunts, the Congress would be utterly destroyed,” he added at the sidelines of the programme organised at Congress Bhavan to release the party’s manifesto for the Mangaluru City Corporation council election.

Siddaramaiah, in his reply to a query, pointed out that as the high court had allowed Tipu Jayanti celebrations, the Congress leaders will participate but will not organise such celebrations.

“Besides Tipu Jayanti, my government had also celebrated Narayana Guru Jayanti, Kempe Gowda and Krishna Jayanti,” Siddaramaiah recollected.

KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao denied to having declared that the party will celebrate Tipu Jayanti if the government bans it. “The party offices across the state observes Jayanti of our leaders,” he added.
