Kumta: A bike-borne man snatched away the 'Mangalsutra' chain from a woman when she was on her way to relative's house here in Kumta on Friday.

Sources informed that the incident took place when the victim Reshma Kamat, a resident of Ladies Hostel road in Kumta, was going to her relative’s house located in front of the LIC office near the national highway to give them ‘prasada’. The chain snatcher made away with her 'Mangalsutra' worth Rs 47,000.

The bike-borne man wore helmet due to which his faces was not visible.

Additional SP Gopal Byakod inspected the crime site and directed officers to check the CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity.
