Bhatkal: A 63-year-old pedestrian was killed on the spot after a multi-utility vehicle hit him on Tuesday night on the national highway near Mugalihonda in Bhatkal.

The deceased has been identified as Manjappa Narayan Naik, a resident of the village. According to police, the vehicle was travelling from Mangaluru to Bhatkal when it hit Manjappa who was returning home from a shop. He had sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. A case has been registered at City Police Station.
