Bhatkal: A person was allegedly assaulted by a group of 6-7 members when he was parking his car near Murdeshwar beach in the taluk on Wednesday evening.

It is said that the victim Hafiz Zakir (34), resident of Kandlur in Kundapur taluk in Udupi district, had been to Murdeshwar beach for picnicking along with his wife. 

According to Zakir, he along with his wife had been to Bhatkal to his in-law's house in the morning, and later in the evening they both went to Murdeshwar. While parking the car, a group of 6-7 members came from another car and without informing the reason began assaulting him.

Zakir received injuries, but managed to escape from them and rushed to Bhatkal government hospital.

The entire incident was then reported to Murdeshwar police. Further investigations are underway.
