Bhatkal: An engineering student committed suicide by drowning in the well in her house at Hurulisaal in Bhatkal on Friday.

The deceased was identified as B M Nagashree (19). She committed suicide when the family members (except her brother) were not at home. She was in the sixth semester and was studying engineering at MIT in Mangaluru.

She had already appeared for two exams and had come to her home to study for the remaining papers. Her next exam was supposed to be held on December 28. 

It is said that she must have ended her life fearing that she was not prepared for the exam.

Her mother works as a teacher in a government school and father is a businessman. Bhatkal police have registered a case in this connection.
