Bhatkal: Angered over the lack of recognition in considering the name of Majlise Islah Wa Tanzeem in a speech addressed in the Independence Day event by Bhatkal taluka administration, the leaders of the organization anguished and boycotted the awards which were named after them and it's volunteers.
During the flag hoisting event organized here at taluka stadium on the occasion of Independence Day celebration by Bhatkal taluka administration, awards for Tanzeem and its volunteers were announced after which the leaders refrained to accept the honour.
Tanzeem members claimed that the hundred-year-old organization, which has been serving for the betterment of humanity, and especially in the times of COVID-19 pandemic, have never been unjust to anyone. Keeping aside the fears of this deadly virus, Tanzeem volunteers have worked for the people day and night. Even it was with the efforts of Tanzeem, a COVID Care Centre was established at Bhatkal Women's Centre to treat the infected patients. Despite all the cooperation from Tanzeem, the taluka administration have neglected us in their Independence Day speeches, the leaders alleged.
Bhatkal ASP Nikhil Bullawar, who was present in the event, approached them and tried to console Tanzeem leaders, but still, they refrained from accepting the awards.
