Bhatkal: Minutes after the news of the injecting Corona vaccine for people over the age of 45 from 2.30 PM to 4.30 PM on Friday went viral on WhatsApp, people in huge numbers rushed to Bhatkal Government Hospital, which the hospital staff had to enlist the help of police to control the gathering. The incident took place on Friday afternoon.

Currently in Bhatkal, the process of giving Corona vaccine to different categories of people is under process, under which bank officials and panchayat officials were scheduled to be vaccinated on Friday, but in the meantime, the health department in Bhatkal issued orders to the Government hospital to vaccinate people over the age of 45 on Friday, 4th June. As soon as the direction was received, the Bhatkal Government hospital officials informed their acquaintances, after which hundreds of people rushed to the hospital to get vaccinated.

The hospital staffs were surprised to witness the crowd in the hospital, then with the help of the police, only fifty people were lined up for vaccination which include 25 men and 25 women. The rest of the people had to go back. This outraged people over the hospital staff and questions were raised asking where will they have to go now and when will they be vaccinated?. Circle Police Inspector Diwakar and other officials, after much effort, finally managed to control the situation assuring the crowd that they would be vaccinated at 10 AM on Saturday.

Vaccination is allowed by the Government only till 4:30 PM, the details of which have to be entered on the website, and the certificate is received only after entering the name and details on the website. It is not possible to enter names and details on the website after the deadline, so vaccination was stopped at 4:30 PM. But there were still many people in line who had not been vaccinated.

As soon as the vaccination process stopped, people in the queue enraged over the hospital staffs and arguments erupted. Later, the Doctor In-Charge of the hospital, asked them to register the names of people in queue and assured that they would be given first priority to take vaccines in the next day.
