Bhatkal: The students of final year mechanical engineering at Anjuman Engineering College developed a unique project by name 'Walking E-Bike'. Under the guidance of Prof. Syed Ibrahim Karikal, the students Zulal Ali S/O Patel Mohammed Zubair, Syed Shamvil Ali S/O Syed Ibrahim Peerzade, Syed Ahmed Ashhad S/O Syed Husain Hassan, and Mohammed Saalim S/O Israr Ahmed Nagoor were the participants in developing this innovative vehicle project which focuses on totally new way of commuting.
Students said that the idea was to create an economic and ecological exercise machine for transport. According to them, the system is driven by a hub motor which is connected to a series of batteries which are charged using solar panels and the treadmill moves as the user walks on it. The transmission is done using a series of chain drives. The structure is well balanced and strongly built to withstand higher loads. This machine can be helpful for travelling shorter distances as well as used for exercise for the people. Using this machine, allotting a seperate time for exercising is not needed.
