Bhatkal: In view of the growing number of Corona cases in Bhatkal, the Bhatkal Women's Center is all set to convert into Corona Center. Beds are being arranged at the Women's Center and people affected by Corona will be shifted to this new Corona Center sooner or later. Work is underway to lay 100 beds in this building, located in Heble Panchayat limits on Jamiaabad road in the town.
Mr Abdul Raqeeb MJ Nadvi, General Secretary, Majlise Islah Wa Tanzeem Bhatkal, said, people affected by Coronavirus were earlier sent to KIMS hospital in Karwar. Even Sonarkeri Residential Government School in Bhatkal does not have strong arrangements to accommodate people, while on Wednesday, Sonarkeri and Asarkeri people had strongly objected to the placement of infected people into the school. "In view of all these circumstances, the Bhatkal Women's Center has now been acquired to house the people affected by Corona. Beds are being laid here, but the problem is that the sufficient quantity of beds are not available. Even after getting in contact with the suppliers from Mangaluru, Hubli, Mumbai and even Gujarat, the beds are not available", he said.
Mr SM Irshad, Vice President, Indian Nawayath Forum, said that they received complaints about improper arrangements at Karwar Hospital for treatment of COVID patients. Based on this, we talked to the owner of Women's Centre, Ms Khadija Qazia, and a well-known American businessman, Mr Zubair Qazia, about converting the Women's Center into a Corona Center. Mr Nauman Patel and other officials also made efforts on their own while talking to the officials in this regard, after which Mr Zubair Qazia and his wife Ms Khadija Qazia, showing their generosity, temporarily handed over the Women's Center to Majlise Islah Wa Tanzeem by agreeing it to convert into Corona centre. In this regard, we have also spoken to the Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Dr Harish Kumar, who expressed his delight at our offer to convert this centre into a Corona centre.
Soon after recieving the approval, the officials of Majlise Islah Wa Tanzeem have set themselves busy arranging beds in the centre. According to General Secretary, the government does not have enough beds available, following which the beds are being arranged from every possible place. Separate living arrangements are being made for men and for women, he added.
