Bhatkal: In a wake of recent attempts to ruin the communal harmony in Bhatkal, a meeting was held by the Bhatkal police department under the patronage of City police station SI Revathi along with the religious leaders to ensure security at worship places on 18th July.
She called upon the leaders of Hindus, Christians and Muslims in different sessions respectively and discussed about proper arrangement of security by installation of CCTVs, lights, gates and appointment of security guards. She urged the representatives to be vigilant about the suspicious activities.
She also informed that police personnels have been assigned in many locations and requested the locals to be in contact with them to ensure better security and urged the Muslim leaders to create a team of youths to keep an eye on the Masjid premises at night.
The Muslim delegates requested inquiry into the recent incidents, where cattle meat and skull were found found in temple, which had hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and asked the police to take strict actions those involved in provoking the communal tension.
Meanwhile,the leaders of different religions assured that they will try to keep the peaceful atmosphere of the town intact.
SI Kodgonti and others were also present in the meeting.
