Bhatkal: A peace meeting for the in coming Eid-ul-fitr festival was held in Bhatkal on Thursday at circuit house which was chaired by Additional SP Devraj.
He requested everyone to maintain peace and harmony and said that they have made appropriate security arrangements from their side and additional forces have also been deployed but you have to maintain peace among your people. He said: "Festivals are the joyous occasion for celebration and everybody should celebrate their respective festivals in complete harmony". He also said that the police department has made particular arrangements so that Eid can be celebrated in peaceful manner. "We want unity among the two communities and everybody has the right to celebrate their festivals in accordance with their customs" he added.
Many leaders discussed about the HESCOM issues, most notably, the representatives of Tanzeem spoke about the untimely load-shedding during the holy month of Ramadan which has left people in agony and requested the officials to pay attention to this matter and to reduce load-shedding during the last few days of Ramadan. HESCOM officials clarified that this problem will be considered hereafter.
Joint secretary of Eidgah committee, Jailani Siddiqua briefed that due to rain, Eid prayers will be prayed in the Jamia Masjid instead of Eidgah.

Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner Chidanand Watare; Tahshildar, VN Badkar; Municipal vice-president, Dr. SM Syed Saleem; General Secretary of Majlis-e-Islah-wa-Tanzeem, Muhiddin Altaf Kharuri; Jamaatul Muslimeen general secretary, Mohtisham Abdur Rahman Jaan; Joint secretary of Eidgah committee Jailani Siddiqua, other leaders SJ Syed Hashim, Dr. Zameerullah Shareif, Sanaullah Gawai, Azeezur Rahman Nadvi, Abdur Rahim, Shridhar Naik, Krishna Naik, Venkatesh Naik, Subhash Kopikar including government officers and political leaders were present.
