Bhatkala: Uttara Kannada District Fisheries Department has imposed a two-month annual monsoon fishing ban from June 1 to July 31 at the west coast to facilitate breeding of fish during monsoon season.

Meanwhile, fishing activities have already halted due to unavailability of adequate fishes in Arabian sea. Hundreds of fishing boats are anchored at Karwar, Belekeri, Tadadi, Honnavar, Bhatkal and other ports.

However, traditional boats which have less than 10 HP motor can go for fishing.
