Bhatkal: Bhatkal-based Tarbiat Education Society Founder Dr M T Hasan Bapa (79) passed away at a private hospital in Udupi on Monday night.

He is survived by wife, a son and three daughters.

Four days back, he accidentally slipped and was hurt on his head. He also became unconscious. He was immediately rushed to the private hospital in Udupi. But he failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed.

Dr Hasan had served as the maiden principal of Tibbia College & Hospital in Mumbai and was the head of the Anatomy Department.

He further contributed to the field of education by setting up the Tarbiat Education Society in Bhatkal. He was also the president of Tanzeem and actively involved in the working of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Islamic Welfare Society, Jamaat al Muslimeen and other organisations.

On Tuesday, heads of various educational institutions paid last respects to the departed soul. Later, the final rites were held.
