Bhatkal: A public relation meeting was organized by police department at the Bhatkal Urban Bank Hall under the initiative ‘Public friendly police’ on 30th July, Sunday.
While presiding over the programme, SP Vinayak Patil said that in order to maintain a peaceful environment and fight crime effectively, the public co-operation is crucial.
He stated that, before, the services rendered by the police were listed under the ‘Sakala’. But now the central police department has been transferred from police station to the new beat system. He further added, “Unlike before, now educated and intelligent people are joining the police as constables.”
“However, awareness is yet to be created among the public about the beat system and its benefits. Better results can be achieved if the people are in contact with the official assigned to their respective areas”, he added.
Bhatkal municipalty president Mohammed Sadiq Matta, Kannada Sahitya Parishad Bhatkal president Gangadhar Naik, reporter Radakrishna Bhat, industrialist Shivani Shantaram, Constable Sughnyan and Bhatkal Majlise-islah-wa Tanzeem vice president Inayatullah Shabandari expressed their views on the police system and Bhatkal police department.
DySP Shivakumar welcomed the guests, while the vote of thanks was delivered by CPI Suresh Naik. The whole programme was compered by health department education officer Ayrayya Devadiga.
