Bhatkal: Normal life was disrupted in Bhatkal taluk as the weekend curfew in enforced in the wake of surge in Covid-19 cases from Saturday.

The taluk witnessed a total lockdown after 10 AM. People were allowed to procure essential items till 10 AM. Shops, market and other essential shops closed after 10 AM.

Hospitals, medical shops, ATM centres and petrol pumps remained open. Vehicular movements on the roads were very less, and so was public movement.

Police verified the credentials of those on the move even after the commencement of the weekend curfew. Those exempted were allowed to move towards their destinations and the rest were warned of consequences if they do not return to their homes.

Those having necessary medical prescriptions and bills of the purchase were allowed to proceed after verification.
