Bhatkal Celebrates 75th Independence Day

Bhatkal: The 75th Independence Day was celebrated in a simple manner at the Taluka stadium (YMSA Ground) of the taluk on Sunday, amid the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Assistant Commissioner Mamata Devi hoisted the National tri-colour and received the guard of honour.

In her address, the Assistant Commissioner said Independence Day marks the end of British rule in 1947 and the establishment of a free and independent Indian nation. This day reminds the country’s citizens of all the sacrifices the freedom fighters made to secure the country’s future. 

She said Taluka administration has been taking bold steps to tackle the Covid pandemic. she also stated that the best possible treatment was being provided to Covid patients in the Taluk.

In a presidential address Bhatkal MLA Sunil Naik said, today, we are hit by coronavirus pandemic and the central and state government has been successful in tackling and took it as a challenge. During the pandemic, we have succeeded in distributing ration and food kits to the public. I salute the individuals, organisations, private institutions, social workers, various government departments and police for their timely help in emergency situations, he added.

More than 25 Corona warriors who work on second wave of Covid were felicitated on the occasion. 

Tahsildar Ravichandra, TMC president Parvez Kasimiji, DySP Belliyappa, BEO Devdas Moger, CEO Radhika and many others were present.
