Bhatkal: A tourist lost his life after drowning, while four others were rescued after they were washed away by the high tides in the Arabian sea in Murdeshwar in Bhatkal taluk on Sunday.
The deceased is identified as Rajiv Natraj (30), a resident of Malleshwaram in Bengaluru.
Sources informed that a group of 11 friends from Bengaluru had been to Murdeshwar for a picnic.
As the tides lashed in the sea, the tourists got stuck in the sea. Observed this by the local fishermen, rushed to rescue them. However, they managed to save four of them, while one breathed his last en route to the hospital.
A case has been registered in Murdeshwar police station.
