Udupi: Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha has directed various departments to gather 1,000 volunteers to clean Malpe and Padukere beaches under Swachh Bharat drive on November 12.

He was interacting with officials during the preparatory meeting on the beach cleanliness campaign held at DC office in Manipal. Jagadeesha said students from nursing colleges, PU colleges, youth associations, Bhajan Mandalis, NSS, NCC, Scouts and Guides should be involved to ensure the success of the drive.

The drive will be inaugurated by Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers D V Sadananda Gowda in Malpe beach.
