Bantwal: A RSS worker was allegedly attacked and stabbed by some miscreants at B C Road on 4th July, Tuesday despite prohibitory orders under Section144 being clamped in Bantwal.
The victim is identified as Sharath, a resident of Kandur and he owns a laundary shop in B C Road. Sources state that Sharath was on his way home when he was attacked by gang, who stabbed him and fled way from the spot.
Sharath had sustained serious injuries and is being treated at a hospital in Mangaluru. Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police Sudhir Kumar Reddy has rushed to the spot and the police is maintaining tight vigil at Bantwal.
Following the clashes between two groups, the ban orders were initially enforced in Bantwal from 27th May in two taluks but following the spread of violence the ban orders have been in force in four taluks-- Bantwal, Puttur, Belthangady and Sullia, since 13th June.
The murder of a Social Democratic Party of India worker at Benjanapadavu in Bantwal on 21st June further escalated the tension forcing authorities to extend prohibitory orders.
With the fresh extension, Bantwal taluk will complete 46 continuous days of being covered under the ban order. The orders will remain in force till 11th July.
A case has been registered and investigations are under way.
