Bantwal: A youth bike rider was killed instantly on the spot and pillion sustained serious injuries after a motor bike in which they were travelling in collided with the car, that occurred at Mani in the taluk on NH 75 on 30th July, Sunday. The seriously injured pillion rider was immediately taken to hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Shariff (18), s/o Eliyas from Badyuru of Karaya in Beltangadhy taluk. Sources informed that he was riding the bike during the incident and died on the spot after the collision. He lived with his mother and four sisters as his father works in a foreign country.
The pillion rider identified as Muhammed Irshad (23), s/o Usman from Puthila in Beltangady taluk has sustained severe injuries and stands admitted into the ICU of a private hospital at Mangaluru.
It is gathered that both were heading towards Uppinangady from Mangaluru, when a Maruti Alto car coming from opposite direction hit them.
A case has been registered by the Vittal police and investigations are under way.
