Bank loot in Honnavar: Accused gets 3 years jail

Honnavar: An accused involved in looting a bank has been sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined Rs 10,000 by JMFC court.

The accused identified as Rajaram of Uttar Pradesh along with seven others had stolen the cash and gold ornaments kept in the lockers of KDCC Bank in Karki in Honnavar taluk in July 2012.

They had entered the bank by breaking open the locks at night.

CPI Shrikanth and CPI Manjunath Gowda had submitted a charge sheet to the court with regard to the case.

Judge M V Channakeshava Reddy who heard the case sentenced the accused to three years jail. The other accused are absconding.

Assistant Public Prosecutor Badarinath Nyari argued on behalf of the government.
