Karwar: “The Health Department has organised a health camp in Sirsi on March 5 and 6. Specialist doctors will be available for consultation on both the days,” informed District Health Officer G N Ashok Kumar.
He gave this information while speaking at a one-day workshop organised by the Health Department for media persons to inform them about various health schemes and programmes of the government launched by the department as well as under National Health Mission, in Karwar recently.
Dr Ashok Kumar said that more than 1,000 people are expected to be benefitted from the health camp. Also, awareness on various diseases will be created during the camp organised under the National Health Mission.
Specialists from Mangaluru-based A J Research Centre and other doctors will provide consultation and advise suitable treatment. Those suffering from heart ailments, skin problems, malaria, TB, ENT problems, gynaecologist and paediatric problems, eye problems can take part in the camp.
The medical officer said that an action plan had been prepared to control dengue and chikungunya in the district. Also, public awareness was being created regarding water-borne diseases.
KFD presence
Dr Ashok Kumar informed that as many as 22 people were affected with monkey fever (Kyasanur Forest Disease virus) in Uttara Kannada district and till now, one person
had died of it. As many as 281 blood samples had been collected in the district for testing and of them, 187 samples were from Siddapur taluk.
He said that the number of cases of KFD was high this year and so, all necessary measures were being taken to check further spread of the disease. Local people were being cautioned about the disease by distributing pamphlets.
Health scheme
He said that as many as 23 hospitals in the district have enrolled themselves for implementing the Arogya Karnataka and Ayushman Bharat scheme. Of them, an agreement had been made with just one hospital till now. The other applications were being reviewed and the process will be completed in a month.
