Bantwal: After a time period of two months, the taluk is finally free from the prohibitory orders under section 144 which were clamped due to the increasing crime rate.

As the crime rate has now decreased and the taluk has limped back to normalcy, the police officers who were designated here from other districts have now returned.

DSP Sudheer Kumar Reddy gave suggestions and advice at a rural beat meeting as the prohibitory orders were lifted.

Prohibitiory orders were clamped in the taluk after a personal fight between two persons at Kalladka on 26th May worsened and gave rise to murder attempt on the same night at Melkar here.

The orders were then extended from time to time for two months due to two murders and several incidents of clashes which occurred.

Two visits were made by Additional director general of police, Alok Mohan to the district and around a thousand police personnel were posted here during the period.
