Advocate Usman new APCR chief, Adv Niyaz re-elected secretary

Bengaluru: The new office bearers of 'Association for Protection of Civil Rights' (APCR) Karnataka chapter were elected on Thursday, in which a senior Advocate of Karnataka High court, Usman P, was unanimously elected as the new president, whereas advocate Muhammed Niyaz was re-elected as the secretary. Shaikh Shafi Ahmed, an RTI activist and active member of APCR was elected as state coordinator. Abdul Salam N K and Inayatullah Gawai were elected for the post of Treasurer and Media In-Charge respectively.

The meeting which was chaired by Deputy Ameer of Jamate Islami Hind Karnataka unit Maulana Muhammad Yousuf Kunni, began with the recitation of verses from Holy Quran by Adil Pasha at APCR Bengaluru office. Advocate Muhammad Niyaz Ahmed welcomed all the newly elected APCR executive members by citing the intention of chairing the meet. Maulana Muhammad Yousuf Kunni, who is also a caretaker of APCR, congratulated all the newly elected members and lauded the services offered by APCR in Karnataka. He said that since 2008, APCR has been actively working in the state of Karnataka and trying hard to give the rights to those whose rights are being violated. Around 400 APCR workers are serving in 28 districts of Karnataka, he added.

On the occasion, the newly elected members of the APCR gave their introduction and assured them of all possible support towards human rights through the organization. Advocate Usman P, the newly elected APCR Karnataka president, is said to be serving as an advocate in Bengaluru for 33 years.

APCR state executive members, Advocate Nage Gowda Mysuru, Tajuddin Tumkur, Muhammad Fazal Bengaluru were also present.
