Accused held after 24 years in Murdeshwar

Bhatkal: Murdeshwar Police, on Monday, succeeded in arresting a man accused of attempt to murder and group clashes after 24 years.

The man arrested is 60-years-old Rizwan Ahmed Dabapu of National Colony in Murdeshwar. According to police, Clashes between two groups of a same community had took place in 1995 and cases were registered against Rizwan with Bhatkal police. It is said that a case of attempt to murder was also filed, which was transferred to Murdeshwar police station later.

After the incidents, the accused had absconded. He had fled to a foreign country. On receiving a tip-off that the accused was back in Murdeshwar, Murdeshwar station PSI Mohini along with Crime division staff Sangappa, Laxman Dastageer and others conducted an operation and arrested the accused after 24 years.
