Udupi: A team of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths trapped the Deputy Commissioner of Transport and a broker while allegedly accepting bribes here on Saturday.
The ACB have identified the accused as R.M. Vernekar, Deputy Commissioner of Transport, and Munna alias Munaaf, a broker.
Vignesh had lodged a complaint with the ACB stating that his car was destroyed in the fire at Aero India 2019 in Bengaluru. He wanted to get back Rs. 65,000 as lifetime tax for the car from the Regional Transport Office.
But he was allegedly asked to pay a bribe of 10% of the amount.
However, Mr. Vignesh approached the ACB who set up the trap.
The ACB team raided the RTO chamber, when the amount demanded as bribe was being handed over. The ACB had also seized the amount of Rs. 6,500. A case had been registered.
