Haliyal: Additional Superintendent of Police, Gopal Byakod said, there will be 55 beats under the jurisdiction of Haliyal police station.

At a Janasamparka Sabha here on 25th July, Tuesday, he said, the initiative aims at streamlining the police patrolling and preventing crimes. The town will have four beats and the remaining 51 will be in villages. The head constable of the beat will be responsible for happenings in their limit. The PSI will be answerable for the entire jurisdiction of the police station, he added.

He called upon residents to co-operate with the police by keeping them informed about the dubious elements around their houses and taking precautions like secure locking of houses while going outstation.

It will be desirable that the police station is informed about the travel, so that the beat policeman can be alert, he added. Referring to the recent burglaries in some areas of the town, Circle Police Inspector Pradeep Holennavar said the culprits will be nabbed soon.

Haliyal Town Municipality chief Umesh Bolshetty and member Shrikant Hooliand were present.
