Udupi: A total of 53 fresh Covid-19 cases have been reported in Udupi district on Monday. The total number of cases reported till date is 1,661.

Out of 53, 18 are women, 31 are men and four are children. As many as 27 are from Udupi, 23 from Kundapur and three are from Karkala. A total of 34 people are admitted in isolation wards for observation. The swab samples of 1,749 are pending for results.

A total of 1,280 have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals. As many as 378 persons are undergoing treatment at various hospitals. A total of 19,123 samples have tested negative out of 22,533 samples tested. 

Another death
The district reported the fourth Covid fatality on Monday. A 70-year-old person from Byndoor was admitted to Covid hospital owing to breathing-related problems. He was kept on a life support system. Though he had recovered and was shifted to the ward, he later succumbed to the illness.
