5-yr-old set to create world record

Karwar: Five-year-old boy Mohammed Sakheeb of Kaiga in Karwar taluk is all set to create a world record in spin skating stunt.

He will display his skating skills at Hotel Ajvi Ocean in Karwar on April 28 at 9:00 am.

Kaiga Rollers Skating Club Trainer Dileep Hanbar said that Sakheeb is hopeful of entering seven books of records through his stunt including Record Holder Republic, Perfect Book of World Record, International Book of Record, High Range Book of Record, Asian Book of Record, Indian Book of Records and Limca Book of Records.

Speaking at a press conference in Karwar on Thursday, Hanbar said that officers of various organisations which maintain world record books will be arriving in Karwar to record the achievement of the skating prodigy. Sakheeb will perform limbo spinning skating continuously for 25 minutes. Geared in skating shoes, he will spin for 1,000 times.

Hanbar said that around 150 children are getting trained in skating at Kaiga Roller Skating Club and till now, the trainers have made 14 records including individual and group achievements.

“Keerthi Hukkeri, Prateeksha Kulkarni and S D Yukthishree of the club have been selected for participating in the national roller hockey training camp which will be held at Nandurbar in Gujarat from May 1 to 5. Those selected in the camp will represent India in the championship to be held at Barcelona in Spain,” Hanbar informed.

Sakheeb’s father Mohammed Rafiq was also present at the press conference.
