Five killed, four injured after car collides with parked truck in Ankola

Karwar: Five people were killed and four others were seriously injured after the car in which they were travelling crashed into a parked truck near Honnalli NH-63 in Ankola taluk, Uttara Kannada district. The accident happened on late Wednesday night, the 9th of August.

The occupants of the car are reported to be residents of Jamanal of Vijaypur district and were traveling to Subramanya in Dakshina Kannada district. The car involved is a Maruti Swift with registration number KA 29 B 4291.

The deceased include two kids, one woman and two men. They are identified as Prabhu Shiralashetti (45), Rudrappa Gurupadappa Kori (55), Suvarna Rudrappa Kori (45), Akash Mutappa Shiralashetti (12) and Saumya Angadi (10). The injured victims are Danappa Rudrappa Kori,  his son Aditya Danappa Kori, Raju Gopal Paatil and Santosh Mutappa Shiralashetti. All are reported as the residents of Vijaypur district.

The injured were shifted to Karwar district hospital after providing initial treatments at Ankola Govt hospital.

Ankola police have registered a case.
