Mangaluru: Uppinangady police have arrested five persons on the charges of sexually assaulting a minor and booked cases under Pocso Act.

The arrested are Chandraksha of Anabekodi in Ilanthila, Sandeepa alias Sandeep Kumar of Uruvalu Janata Colony, Harsha alias Ravi of Kaniyooru, Lava Kumar alias Lava of Kaniyooru and Lakshmisha alias Charan of Shishila.

The police are on search for another accused, Mithun. They have booked a case of abduction and sections of the Pocso Act against Chandraksha. Others have been booked under the Pocso Act.

It is said that a minor girl went missing from her house on July 17. The family members had filed a kidnap case. While probing the case, the police traced the girl at Hassan. During the interrogation, she had revealed that Chandraksha had sexually assaulted her. After the call records on the mobile phone of the victim were checked, the victim spilled the beans on the sexual assault on her by six persons on different occasions.

Following the details given by her, the police arrested five persons.
