Haliyal: During a joint operation by Revenue and Police departments, 48 bags of rice weighing around 2.8 tonnes have been seized. The rice bags were being transported from Dandeli to Haliyal in a van illegally. According to tahsildar Shivanand Ullegaddi, Yasin Abdul Shekur Dalal of Kazi Galli in Haliyal has been arrested in this connection and bags of rice and a Tata van have been seized. It is suspected that the rice was meant for distribution under the PDS.
